Garfield – The Rising Runway Show will be held on Saturday, May 19, at Assemble, a
community space for arts and technology located at 5125 Penn Avenue. The theme is
technology. The show is looking for submissions of two dynamic, wearable designs that work in
dialogue with each other and the theme of technology. The garments must show
continuity within the design, whether they are cohesive, intentionally disconnected, or
playing off one another. The garment must fall into one of these three categories: fashion,
wearable art, or eco-friendly.
Applications are due March 3. Submissions must include an inspiration board and
statement describing the idea and final project. Applicants should also submit sketches of
potential final garments or objects they would like to explore, expand upon, and create.
Submissions should contain three pairs of possible garments/wearable art, although only
two garments per artist will be created to be sent down the runway. Artists should think
outside of the box and challenge themselves. Therefore, final garments may vary greatly
from the preliminary sketches. There is an entry fee of $20.
Applications are due March 3 to Diane Meyer at dmdyeanne88@gmail.com.
Please include your name and email address in the message. Garments will be due to
Assemble on May 16 or 17. Contact Diane Meyer at 716-725-1639 for more information.
