Certified Application Counselor Training

Want to help people enroll in affordable health coverage? The BGC and the Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center are hosting a training this Saturday, Nov. 8, for volunteers to become an Affordable Care Act Certified Application Counselor. DHS Summer Food Service Program for Youth

From June 11 through August 17, 2012, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services will operate the SummerFood program, a free breakfast, lunch and recreation program for children up to 18 years old, as well as eligible individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities 19 years of age and  older. Nutritious meals will be available on weekdays at more than 100 sites throughout Allegheny County. A site supervisor and accompanying staff will be present to ensure the well-being of the children. Train to Be a Lifeguard

To help area residents prepare for the responsibility of being lifeguards, the American Red Cross is hosting its annual Lifeguard Training School in Pittsburgh May 10 to 13 and May 17 to 20, offering new lifeguard training and recertification classes. Every year, the local Red Cross certifies hundreds of locals in lifeguarding skills. Participants learn lifesaving skills – including First Aid, CPR and AED – which prepare them to handle aquatic emergencies with responsibility and knowledge.
