Looking to make a positive impact in the Bloomfield community, Groove Gallery and Records opened March 7 at 4623 Liberty Ave.
Owned by Dave Cee and Jennifer Quinio, locals to Bloomfield, the shop offers a pairing of thousands of records of all genres and an art gallery focused on local and regional art.
“Groove has over 8,000 records in three rooms, carrying Rock, pop, jazz, nostalgia, soul, RnB and country. You’ll also find 12″ vinyl. Soon, we will add CDs,” says Cee.
The music portion of this collaboration comes from Cee’s expertise of over 38 years in the Radio and Record industry.
The art portion is Quinio’s forte, who formerly owned “Modern Formations,” a gallery on Penn Avenue in Garfield for 15 years. The gallery closed in 2016.
The inspiration behind the gallery is centered on community.
“We wanted to do something close to home. We live about 8 blocks from the gallery/ store. It’s nice to be able to walk to work, and we are involved in the community”¦ We felt that a local store, owned by people who live here, was appropriate,” says Cee.
Starting on April 4, the shop will feature artwork by Jolene Dames, a leading artist in the film industry.
