At the Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center, my days are filled with real conversations that spark real change. People walk into my office unsure of what’s next “” they are career changers, folks out of work, and community members just trying to figure things out. My role is to meet them where they are and help them move forward.
Take A. Williams, for example. He came in feeling discouraged after months of job searching with no luck. During our 45-minute session, we talked through his experience, sharpened up his resume, and practiced answering tough interview questions. By the end, he walked out not just with a plan, but with his confidence back.
I keep my sessions casual and personal. We talk like people, not like bullet points on a job history. At the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation’s Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center, it’s not just about finding a job””it’s about helping folks rediscover what they bring to the table.
That’s what we’re here for at the ENEC””and we’re proud to support our neighbors right here in Garfield.
The ENEC aims to help improve the economic and social vitality within the community through workforce development, job readiness training, career counseling, and ultimately, job placement.
As a lifelong resident of the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, I’m no stranger to workforce development, with well over 15 years of experience. That’s used to connect the Garfield community and ENEC visitors to the professional and personal resources they need to find employment opportunities and deal with a range of financial challenges affecting the quality of life within their households. In 2024 alone, I succeeded in finding 160 ENEC visitors with job placements.
The ENEC’s services are available for anyone aged 16 and up and is located at the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation at 113 N. Pacific Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 and can be contacted at (412) 362-8580. Hours of operation are:
