The Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation is proud to announce its 21st Annual Aggie Brose Awards Luncheon, taking place on Friday, Nov. 14 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, 17th Floor, 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served from noon to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Awards Ceremony from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
The Aggie Brose Awards honor individuals whose dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on Pittsburgh’s communities. Named for Agnes “Aggie” Brose, a co-founder of the BGC and tireless advocate for Garfield, the awards celebrate those who advance equity, culture, and civic engagement throughout the city.
This year’s luncheon is particularly special as BGC also celebrates 50 years of The Bulletin, its free monthly newspaper reaching 14,000 homes. The milestone highlights the power of storytelling in shaping neighborhoods and amplifying local voices.
Keynote Speaker:
Natalie Bencivenga, MSW, an award-winning journalist and media entrepreneur who uses her platforms to advance equity and amplify community voices.
2025 Aggie Awardees:
* Bonita Lee Penn – Poet, playwright, and multimedia artist whose work explores memory, identity, and spirituality through the lens of the Black aesthetic.

* Alisha B. Wormsley – Guggenheim Fellow, interdisciplinary artist, and cultural producer whose visionary projects imagine liberated Black and Indigenous futures.

* Bill O’Driscoll – Award-winning Pittsburgh journalist whose 30-year career has shaped arts and culture coverage locally and nationally.

* Kahmeela Adams-Friedson – Pittsburgh-based producer, journalist, and multimedia storyteller who champions underrepresented voices with creativity and insight.

The Aggie Awards luncheon not only recognizes outstanding community leaders but also supports BGC’s ongoing initiatives in affordable housing, workforce development, youth mentoring, and neighborhood revitalization. Sponsored by organizations including Duolingo, Highmark, and the Giant Eagle Foundation, the event brings together civic leaders, philanthropists, and residents to celebrate and strengthen Pittsburgh’s communities.
