College Scholarships from Citizens Bank

Citizens Bank has announced that the application period for its annual TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship program will begin on Sunday, April 1 and close on Monday, April 30, 2012. Citizens launched the scholarship program last year, awarding a total of $50,000 to college students whose volunteer efforts have made a difference in their communities. This year, 40 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and current college students across the country who are attending or accepted to a federally accredited four-year college, university or graduate program and who have been active in community service. SOUNDWAVES Applications Being Accepted

Kelly Strayhorn Theater, in partnership with Union Project, is now accepting applications for SOUNDWAVES, a new steelband ensemble for teens. Participation is free, but registration and an audition are required. Students who are 13-18 that have a passion for playing music are encouraged to apply. A small instrumental rental fee will be charged. The six-week program will culminate in a public performance at the theater, while rehearsals will be held at Union Project in Highland Park. Earthen Vessels Outreach Celebrates New Space

This Friday, March 30, from 2 to 6 p.m., Earthen Vessels Outreach invites you to celebrate the completion of their newest space -- the Pacific Sanctuary. Come to 250 S. Friendship Neighborhood Concert

Fourth Presbyterian Church, 5450 Friendship Avenue,  is sponsoring a Friendship Neighborhood Concert to gather diverse community members together for fun and sharing on Saturday, April 14, at 7 p.m. Donations will benefit "Compassion Housing," a cooperative emergency housing initiative. AARP Foundation Announces Sixth Annual Women’s Scholarship Program Call for Applicants

The AARP Foundation has announced a call for entries for its sixth annual Women's Scholarship Program. The program provides funds to low-income women ages 50 and older who are seeking new job skills, training, and educational opportunities to support themselves and their families. To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be able to demonstrate financial need, and enroll in an accredited school or technical training program within six months of the scholarship award date. As part of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Community Engagement strategy, the board members and staff will host a meeting with the general public. Historical Society Meets
